In a medical achievement that reflects the expertise and capabilities of our specialized healthcare teams, the surgical team at Almana Hospital in Dammam successfully performed a complex scoliosis correction surgery for a 14-year-old girl suffering from an advanced spinal curvature exceeding 54 degrees.
The surgery was led by Dr. Ahmed Hamed Amin, Consultant Spinal Surgeon. Despite the complexity of the case, the corrective procedure was completed in approximately five hours, significantly less than the usual eight to nine hours required for similar procedures.
The operation involved the correction and stabilization of 11 vertebrae, extending from the fourth thoracic vertebra to the second lumbar vertebra. A total of 20 screws and supporting rods were carefully positioned to achieve precise spinal alignment and improve the patient’s condition.
The patient is recovering well following the procedure and is expected to return to her normal daily activities in the near future, God willing.
This achievement highlights the advanced surgical expertise of Almana Hospital’s medical team and reinforces the hospital’s continued commitment to delivering high-quality, specialized healthcare services. It also reflects the ongoing progress and development of the healthcare sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
